Plant Breeder’s Rights Certificates

Plant Breeders’ Rights (PBR) are a form of intellectual property allowing the protection of new varieties of plants, conferring to its holder exclusive rights on the sale, production, reproduction, import, export, storage and packaging of propagating material (seeds, cuttings, etc.) of its variety. An application for a PBR certificate must be filed with the Plant Breeders’ Rights Office (PBRO) at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
